Just 1.5 hours west of Panama City lies Altos de Campana National Park, a jewel of cloud forest, tropical premontane forest, and open ridges. Rising to 3,300 feet (1,000 m), Cerro Campana offers refreshing temperatures in the mid 70s °F all year, making it a comfortable retreat for nature lovers. Established in 1966 as the country’s first protected area, this park combines rich history, stunning scenery, and world-class birding.
This full-day tour takes you along natural forest trails, some of which include moderate climbs and sections that may become slick during the rainy season. Along the way, enjoy sweeping mountain views, lush greenery, and the songs of Panama’s cloud-forest specialists. While the trails require a moderate fitness level, the rewards are unmatched—encounters with both highland and lowland bird species that make this region a true birding hotspot.
